Beaded Doll Pin

by Mary Norwood

This project is fun in more ways than one! You will enjoy making it—no two are alike—and you will love the compliments you get when you wear it or give it away. Each doll develops her own personality, so be warned: Once you start making them, you could get carried away!

Our doll uses MNC Studio Designs' handy precut chipboard torsos, but you can also use an MNC Studio large-sized doll template; at approximately 8" tall, it allows you to make larger dolls or trace onto shrink plastic for a doll the same size as the chipboard version.

So many dolls, so little time!

MATERIALS NEEDED:Beaded Doll Pin

  • MNC Studio Designs: Chipboard Torsos; Ladies' Faces (V2200 -6) and Cosmos Flourish (EK1004) rubber stamps
  • Kandi Corp.: Kandi Kane™ hot-fix applicator; 3mm and 4mm hot-fix crystal embellishments
  • brass charms: feet (2); hands (2); purse
  • cardstock: heavyweight white
  • ink pads: black; blue
  • jump rings
  • beads
  • eye pins (4)
  • pin back
  • super glue
  • adhesive
  • colored pencils
  • gold leafing pen
  • laminating sheet
  • 1/16" hole punch
  • scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1
Using the black ink pad, stamp one of the ladies' faces onto the cardstock; using the blue pad, stamp Cosmos Flourish onto the Chipboard Torso. Use the colored pencils to color the face, flowers and background.

Step 2
Cover both face and torso with clear laminate sheet; cut out. Cut along the "V" at the waistline of the Chipboard Torso; outline both pieces of the torso with the leafing pen and allow to dry. Adhere the face to the "head" of the torso.

Step 3
Punch 1/16" holes where indicated at shoulders, waist and legs. Attach torso pieces together at waist.

Step 4
Using an eye pin, attach one of the hand charms to the hooked end; add beads to create the arm. Attach the arm to the doll using a jump ring. Repeat for the other arm; adhere purse charm to one of the hands using super glue and allow to dry.

Step 5
Using an eyepin, attach one of the shoe charms to the hooked end; add beads to create the leg. Attach the leg to the doll using a jump ring. Repeat for the other leg. applicator.

Step 6
Apply crystal embellishments as shown with the hot-fix applicator. Attach the pin back to the doll's backside.
