RSR Editorial Guidelines

Do you have information or experiences that would help art stamp and scrapbooking retailers? If you would like to submit an article, please contact Managing Editor Kathleen Strickland at editor@markingdevices.com.

Articles

We look for articles of 1,000-1,500 words. Content should be unbiased. We will do our best to place the article in the issue for which it is planned, but we cannot guarantee the timing.

Articles should be geared toward the independent art stamp and accessories store owner. Articles should not contain how-to projects, but rather ideas for classes, merchandising, increasing sales, etc.

Color photographs, hard copy or digital, (preferably jpeg at 150dpi) or artwork may accompany the article. Each photo or illustration must have a caption, which may include company and product names. Please mark all artwork with company name and contact information.

At the end of each article is an "About the Author" paragraph that contains name, title, contact information and short bio.

Articles are pre-assigned. We do not, as a rule, pay for articles, but we do credit the author in all possible instances within the magazine.

Covers (pre-assigned)

We need a vertical color photograph (with room at the top for our masthead). This can be hard copy or electronic. Cover should be of a project rather than pictures of products. Needs accompanying article (not how-to).

On Tour

We look for an article of 900-1,500 words. Please tell us how you came to own an art stamp store, what is special about your store?anything about how you run the business while keeping it interesting and maintaining your enthusiasm. We always are interested in a new "twist" about a stamp shop. Savvy business hints are very welcome.

Color photographs, hard copy or digital (at 150dpi, preferably jpeg) with captions should accompany the article. Also, please include a floor plan. It can be hand- or computer-drawn on plain paper.

How-To (two or three per issue, by manufacturers)

How-tos are pre-assigned. A short (three paragraph maximum) introduction may include further information about the project or company. Please limit copy to approximately 500 words.

Must contain a complete list of materials needed (with company names and trademarks), step-by-step instructions and a color photograph (hard copy or digital at 150dpi) of completed artwork, or actual artwork. Please mark all artwork with contact information.

News Releases ("What's In Store")

Used as we have room. Cannot promise if or when we will use press release; can use only one photo per press release. We do not photograph product or artwork for "What's In Store."
